Get started with Clex

How to get Clex on your phone, your iPad or your computer. Step by step, and help when something does not work.

What Clex does for you

  • Clex helps you write your notes.
  • You get word suggestions while you type.
  • Clex can correct your note and read it aloud.
  • You can see the note in your own language next to it.

How you get Clex

Your workplace has an agreement with Clex. Your IT department sets Clex up with your organisation’s licence.

  • Phone, iPad or computer from work: your IT department has installed Clex for you. You only need to turn on the keyboard. See the steps below.
  • Your own phone: your workplace gives you a link. Get Clex Keyboard from Google Play or the App Store. Then open the link on your phone. Now Clex is set up with your organisation’s licence.

Can’t find Clex on your device? Ask your site lead.

Turn on the keyboard on Android

  1. Open the Clex app. Tap Get started.
  2. Next to Turn on Clex Keyboard, tap Turn on. The phone shows the list of keyboards. Turn on Clex Keyboard. Go back to the app.
  3. Next to Switch to Clex Keyboard, tap Switch. Choose Clex Keyboard.
  4. Check that it says License is active.
  5. Tap Download files. The phone must be online. This takes a little while.
  6. Want to speak instead of type? Tap Allow next to the microphone.

Turn on the keyboard on iPhone and iPad

  1. Open the Clex app. Tap Getting Started.
  2. Open Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards → Add New Keyboard. Choose Clex.
  3. Tap Clex in the list of keyboards. Turn on Allow Full Access.
  4. Go back to the Clex app. Follow the steps that are left.
  5. Open a text field. Tap the globe icon until Clex appears.

Why Full Access? The words sound big. But iPhone uses them for every keyboard that goes online. Clex goes online for the licence check and to download language files. Clex also sends a daily count. It contains no text. Without Full Access you can type and get word suggestions. But the buttons at the top of the keyboard do not work.

Use Clex on a computer

On a work computer, Clex Web is usually installed for you. Open the record system and type in a field. The suggestions appear. Press Ctrl + Up arrow to have the text corrected. Press Tab to use the corrected text. On a Mac, use Cmd instead of Ctrl.

Does Clex read what I write? No. What you write stays on your device. Clex only gets a daily count per feature. For example, it shows how many corrections were accepted that day. Clex uses it to keep the service stable. The count does not say who you are. It does not say which device you use either. The numbers are added into one total for the whole organisation. Clex gets no keystrokes and no text. Read more in the FAQ.

If something does not work

The keyboard is gone or has switched back

  • Android: Open the Clex app and tap Get started. Tap Switch and choose Clex Keyboard.
  • iPhone and iPad: Tap the globe icon on the keyboard until Clex appears. Is Clex not there? Then follow the steps above again.

No suggestions appear

  • Check that you are typing with Clex and not with another keyboard.
  • Open the Clex app and tap Get started (Android) or Getting Started (iPhone and iPad). Does it say License is not active? Then ask your site lead.
  • Is correction or speech missing? Tap Download files in the app. The phone must be online.
  • On iPhone and iPad, Allow Full Access must be on.

A message about the licence

Does it say No Clex license or License is not active? You cannot fix this yourself. Ask your site lead. Say whether it is a work phone or your own.

Who can help?

  1. Ask your site lead. They have seen most problems before.
  2. Ask the super-user. If your site lead cannot help, the super-user on your floor can.
  3. Ask Clex. If neither can help, write to Signe Thisted Larsen.
